Brad Albert
Brad has spent more than two decades in the solar industry in Hawaii in roles ranging from field installer, to contractor, to developer, to activist, and regulatory expert. In 2004, Brad co-founded Hawaii’s first PV-focused trade association, the Hawaii PV Coalition, which has intervened in dozens of regulatory proceedings on issues ranging from Net Energy Metering to performance-based rate making. He founded Rising Sun Solar, one of Hawaii’s top solar companies and operated it from 2003 until exiting in 2018. After Rising Sun, Brad was Head of Business Development for Swell Energy’s VPP programs in Hawaii and a consultant for the US Dept of Energy’s Loan Programs Office working on VPP loan applications and initiatives related to the DOE’s VPP Commercial Liftoff Report. In October 2023, Brad joined Nexamp and is developing Nexamp’s community solar projects in Hawaii. Brad lives on Maui with his wife and teenage son and volunteers his time for Solar United Neighbors. Brad is a former US Ski Team Member and a surfer passionate about renewable energy, environmental protection, and climate restoration.
