Gwen Yamamoto Lau was appointed Executive Director of the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority (“Authority”) in January 2017. She brings over thirty years of strategic leadership and lending experience in commercial banking as well as community development financing. Prior to joining the Authority, Yamamoto Lau served in a variety of executive positions for a number of local banks and credit unions, specializing in business banking and SBA lending. She also served as President of the Hawaii Community Reinvestment Corporation, a community development financial institution (“CDFI”), where she expanded the CDFI’s mission from a singular focus on affordable housing and financing low income housing tax credit projects to also include community, clean energy and economic development financing programs.
The Authority, which was constituted in November 2014 to administer a green infrastructure financing program, was capitalized with a $150.0 million Green Energy Market Securitization (GEMS) bond issuance. The Authority is Hawaii’s Green Bank.
